Steel Transportation and the İskenderun Basin

The İskenderun Gulf is home to Turkey's largest integrated steel facilities, led by İSDEMİR, and a significant share of the country's steel output originates from this region. Being located at the very centre of this basin gives Çevikoğlu Lojistik unrivalled field expertise in the transportation of steel products such as sheet metal, coil, sections, pipe, wire rod, rebar and billets.

Transporting steel products demands specialist know-how with regard to weight, length and loading methods. Securing a coil on a trailer and stacking long sections or rebar are entirely different techniques. We transport loads damage-free and within legal limits using the correct vehicle type, lashing equipment and axle-load distribution.

Steel Product Categories We Handle

We transport hot-rolled and cold-rolled sheet and coil, all section types (NPI, NPU, angle iron), welded and seamless pipe, wire rod, deformed rebar, billets and slabs — the full range of semi-finished and finished steel products. Special cradles and lashing systems are used for coil to prevent tipping and sliding.

We haul export loads from factory to port and deliver imported semi-finished products from port to plant. We work in direct coordination with rolling mills, wire-drawing facilities and metal processing factories in the region, aligning with their production and despatch schedules.

Vehicle Fleet and Load Security

Our flatbed and curtainsider trailers handle standard haulage of sheet metal, sections and packaged steel; our lowbed and extendable trailers are used for heavy and long loads. Loads are positioned correctly on the trailer with respect to the centre of gravity and secured with chains, lashing straps and cradles. This guarantees both road safety and freedom from product deformation.

For heavy coil and billet loads, axle loads are calculated meticulously; multi-axle trailers are assigned when required. Gauge regulations are observed for long section and pipe haulage; signage and permit processes are managed when necessary.

Port, Export and Container Connection

Our proximity to İskenderun and Mersin ports provides a critical speed advantage for steel exports. We deliver factory-gate loads to port in compliance with vessel loading (cut-off) schedules; where export is by container we also manage 20 ft DC container stuffing and port delivery. Flat rack and open-top container options are evaluated for heavy and oversized steel products.

Weighing certificates, certificates of origin and customs documents specific to steel exports are prepared in full by our partner freight forwarders. All shipments are covered by cargo insurance and tracked via vehicle monitoring systems.
